World Bank and Russia

   In autumn 1991, the World Bank opened its temporary office in Moscow.

   January 7, 1992 the Government of Russia applied for membership in the IMF and World Bank Group. Russia became a member of these organizations in June 1992. In early 1993, the bank opens permanent representation in Moscow, which currently employs about 70 people, mostly - Russian citizens.

   In June 1993 the Bank hosted a multilateral meeting in Paris to discuss the highest priorities for reform in Russia and coordination of related foreign aid. Total Russia for structural reforms by the World Bank has been granted loans worth more than $ 13 billion
